It's simple. We believe that proprietary software doesn't serve the purpose of reach a community as well as its open source counter parts.

Sure, we might be able to make it closed source and charge a bunch of money, but its simply not something we plan on doing because we want to serve our communities, and any developer could tell you that you get a sense of enjoyment out of making something open source.

Not only does it mean that you can use it for free, as well as share it with others, it means that you can join our community of developers. Find a bug? Fix it and share the fix with the community. Got security issues? Report them and you can help work on a patch.
